Bonnie Slawson
FOUNDER
Born in New York City, Bonnie Slawson grew up loving the arts. Bonnie studied at Broadway Dance Center, Steps and at Carnegie Hall’s Ballet Arts Center for Dance, NYC. Her classes blend all the amazing technique and choreography that she has compiled in her life of study and performance. She has studied with some of the masters of her craft, Madame Darvash, Marcia Dale Weary, Madame Valentina Belova, Kat Wildish, Frank Hatchett, Mia Michaels, Phil Black, Slam, Doug Caldwell, Derrick Evans, A.C. and Luigi. Bonnie holds a BA in Dance from Mercyhurst University. She has taught and choreographed for a number of colleges including Stephens College (Perry Mansfield), Dickenson College, Temple University, Penn State, Elizabethtown College and locally Montgomery College. Her roster for Master Classes includes James Madison University, Crickets Performing Arts Center, Georgetown Day School, Sandy Spring Friends School and the New Cumberland Ballet. Her performance experience has taken her all through out the United States in Summer Stock Theatre, Equity Theatre Productions, MTV music videos, TV Pilots and dance company work. While in LA she continued her dance studies while teaching, choreographing and working in Equity Theaters.
Dawn Hessler
CO-DIRECTOR
Dawn Hessler/Co-Director is excited to be returning for her 20th year with Motion Mania/CoMMotion. Originally from Toledo, Ohio. Dawn trained as a dancer and a gymnast and earned a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography from Ohio University. She has toured as a professional dancer throughout the US and Japan and has worked as a company dancer, in musical theatre and in the fashion industry.
A skilled choreographer, Dawn has created numerous pieces for commercial and non-commercial productions. Dawn is a trained Stott Pilates instructor, licensed Zumba and TRX Suspension Training instructor and holds her ACE Group Certification. Dawn brings to all of her classes an unparalleled enthusiasm. She has taught for several commercial studios and guest teaches throughout the east coast. Students pick up on her exuberant spirit and style as well as her technical expertise. Dawn has been on faculty of the Mid-Atlantic Summer Dance Intensive held at James Madison University and has consistently been among the Artistic Directors for the CoMMotion Youth Companies/Co.
Breanna Testerman
PROFESSIONAL DANCER
Breanna was born and raised in Maryland and is currently dancing and performing with Motion Mania Dance Theatre where she can utilize her dance and poms training in a professional, local company. She has been dancing since childhood and enjoys sharing her love of dance with others and passing technique and stage presence down to the next generation. From high school poms, technical college dance classes to performing as a member of Worship in Motion church, Breanna's experience covers many lanes. As the captain of her team she began to hone her choreographic skills and she further developed those skills at Montgomery College. Breanna loves dance with a passion and is blessed & honored to be able to share that passion with all the students that she teaches.
Lynn Schaeber
PROFESSIONAL DANCER
Lynn holds a MFA in Choreography and Performance and has held academic appointments at Montgomery County College, NC State, Monmouth University, Farleigh Dickinson as well as several choreography residencies. pre-professional and private schools in Italy, Switzerland and Germany. Lynn is passionate about inspiring her students of all levels and backgrounds to challenge themselves beyond their own expectations.
