LEADERSHIP

We believe the greatest gift we can give the artistic community is a dancer who not only has a broad knowledge and strong technique, but one who can apply those talents in a spirit of confidence, compassion, and a commitment to the communities that they are a part of.

Dance can be a powerful tool for developing individual leadership skills. The process of learning dance teaches our students to set goals, to work effectively in teams, to creatively solve problems, and a host of other character-building attributes. 

We recognize that only a small percentage of dance students will want to become professional dancers…while all of them will become professional people! CoMMotion Dance is committed to helping them become the most successful people possible.

Students who have completed our fundamentals program at CoMMotion Dance are then accepted into our Leadership and Character Development Academy.

We charge our leadership team with the responsibility to nurture the positive culture that we have built at CoMMotion Dance. 

Leadership Team members are expected to demonstrate our core leadership principles in their behavior on and off the dance floor/stage and to be an example for our newer/younger students. 

Those who most successfully demonstrate the principles in their practice are given opportunities to further develop their skills through becoming teacher assistants and eventually substitute teachers in addition to other developmental experiences.

 Each month, we focus on a specific leadership principle and together we explore how applying that particular set of skills enhances our dance practice and our success in social, academic and family life. 

Students participate eagerly in both class chats and activities.

The more advanced students can audition to gain a position in our S.TA.R.S.  Program (Students Teaching Artistry, Responsibility & Self Worth).

This program is designed as an apprentice program for dancers who want to learn more about being a dance teacher and entrepreneur.  It supports the further development of discipline, professionalism, self-confidence, and other valuable skill sets that will help them in their adult lives!
